Professor Stuart Humphries
Director
Professor Stuart Humphries is the founding Director of the Lincoln Institute of Advanced Studies. He joined Lincoln’s School of Life Sciences in 2014 and has served in a variety of senior roles within the University’s College of Science, including as Group Lead for Lincoln’s Evolution and Ecology Research Group.
Educated at the universities of Swansea and Glasgow, Stuart held a Pioneer Fellowship from the Freshwater Biological Association and Natural Environment Research Council at the University of Glasgow, a NERC Advanced Fellowship at the universities of Reading and Sheffield, and was a lecturer at the University of Hull from 2009. A specialist in evolutionary biophysics, he leads collaborative interdisciplinary research at the interface of biology, physics and engineering, on subjects ranging from the ecology of microbes in the oceans to the evolution of dinosaurs.

Mrs Pilar Pousada Solino
Head of Research & Industrial Partnerships and Assistant Director
Pilar leads the development of our institutionally rich research environment facilitating, coordinating and driving research activities and embedding culture across the University.
She directs the support of REF and Impact at an institutional level and have oversight for the support of the Institute for Advanced Studies and the new Doctoral School. Researcher training and development and research data analysis are also functions delivered by her team.
